As per section 12(6) of the FC(R) Act, 2010, the FCRA registration shall be valid for a period of 5 years. However, the validity period has been extended several times in the past, the last being through Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) public notice dated 28th March 2024 when it was extended till 30th June 2024. Now, with this public notice no. II/21022/23(22)2020-FCRA-III dated 29th June 2024, issued by Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), the validity of such Certificate is further extended till 30th September 2024. The contents of the notice are mentioned below:
1. The validity of the FCRA registration shall be extended till 30th September, 2024 or till the date of disposal of the renewal application, whichever is earlier. This extension would apply only where the application for renewal has been filed and is pending till date.
2. The validity of those FCRA Registration Certificates expiring during 1st July, 2024 to 30th September, 2024 and who have applied or will apply for renewal before expiry of 5 years’ validity period is extended up to 30th September, 2024.
3. In case of refusal of the application for renewal of FCRA registration certificate, the validity of the certificate shall be deemed to have expired on the date of refusal. Further, such organization are not eligible to receive foreign contributions or utilize foreign contributions received earlier from the date of refusal.
